Cove will open second location, is hiring at least one

Cove, the "neighborhood productive space" that is a little like a cowork office and a little like a coffeehouse, is opening a second location in mid-December. The new space, at 14th and Corcoran in Logan Circle, will be at least double the size of Cove's current Dupont Circle location.

"We had a warm welcome from Dupont," says Cove cofounder Adam Segal. "Cove is an awesome, growing community." That growth, along with the close of a successful seed round, has led to Cove opening its second location just two months or so after cutting the ribbon on its first space. Segal says that additional Cove sites are in the works for early in the new year, but he is mum on the location(s) for now. "They will be in D.C. neighborhoods. We're hoping to get another one open by January 1st."

Cove works on a subscription model. People who want to work around others, but not in a traditional office, home office or coffeeshop, buy a plan, starting at $24 per month. They can then reserve space at Cove, or drop in, to work or collaborate. There are no dedicated desks; Cove has different work areas to accommodate different work needs, along with free wi-fi, coffee, printing and scanning.

"We're adding additional features all the time," Segal says. Regular nighttime Cove users might not want caffeine, so Cove has added herbal tea to its offerings. "We've also added group plans, so that small companies can pool hours and work as a singular account." Both the tea and the group plan came from users' suggestions.

For users who need more time in a conference room than the current model allows for, Cove has added a conference room pack, which gives members an extra five hours per month for $100.

The company is in the process of hiring a full-time community manager to handle marketing and will be expanding its staff. "We'll hopefully be adding a software engineer and another community manager in a month," says Segal.
