With the opening of a "fashion incubator" in DC, aspiring designers now have a chance to learn about the business behind their passion.
Nicely is a six-month-old startup that lets locals ship a taste of D.C. to guests, family members or friends in the form of locally made snacks, beverages and treats.
Union Kitchen and Compass Coffee are teaming up to offer free classes to would-be entrepreneurs. The new endeavor is called Made in DC.
The Washington D.C. Economic Partnership is headed to a retail conference in Las Vegas and wants to know which stores to bring back to the District.

Destination Crowd Capital is a new District-based consulting firm that advises organizations, nonprofits and businesses on how to successfully crowdfund campaigns for destination-based ventures, such as D.C.'s Dupont Underground.
The District announced the eight startups that will receive up to $200,000 from its Digital D.C. Tech Fund: Aquicore, Azert, EventKloud,FlexSpot, Riide,Silica Labs,Vinolovers and MyMuzik.
