James Arawole, author of Blood is Thicker Than Sugar, is crowdfunding to supply 250 copies of his new novel to D.C. and Maryland public libraries. The novel follows a 17-year-old prep basketball standout who struggles with juvenile type-1 diabetes.
“I want to use this project as an initiative to help fight low literacy rates in the inner-city by providing relatable content,” says Arawole, a native Washingtonian.
Arawole hopes to raise $5,000 in a Kickstarter campaign that launches Thursday, August 6 and runs through Friday, September 4. Check out the book’s first chapter
