Can programs designed for the developing world help District residents?

In a word, yes. Fast Company. spoke with Lisa Gans, a Fuse Corps fellow working with the D.C. Promise Neighborhood Initiative (read our Q&A with DCPNI's executive director Ayris Scales here).

Says Gans, through Fast Company:

"In Ethiopia, we taught local women how to make better nutrition decisions. They'd then share the knowledge; they became conduits. In Washington, D.C., we want to repeat that result with different goals: helping mothers attain education and financial stability."
