DC candy maker appears on Food Network show

David Burton, owner of The Capital Candy Jar, competed in an episode of Rewrapped on the Food Network Wednesday.

The show's premise is that three chefs compete to recreate a famous snack—in this episode, Burton and two other chefs had to recreate a Dunkin Donuts pumpkin spice donut.

Burton won the first round; the second round involved using a donut as an ingredient in a new dish. He made a pumpkin divinity floating island with a coffee-hazelnut creme Anglaise, but lost to a competitor who used the donuts to make a savory dish. Since the prize was a years' supply of Dunkin Donuts, maybe Burton's not feeling so bad about taking second.

Congratulations to Burton!
