A writer for the
Village Voice in New York recently spent a weekend in D.C. and....wrote an
article praising the bagels at DGS. Since New Yorkers are usually super picky about their bagels, we'll count this as high praise.
Writer Adam Robb said that ME Swing is "a true local legend" and that GBD's doughnuts are superior to New York's Doughnut Plant (which we assume is some NYC trendy eatery du jour--see? Washingtonians can be elitist about our food too).
Chef Spike Mendelsohn's Good Stuff Eatery is "undaunted by Shake Shack" and the fact that you can't find some of Central Michel Richard's brunch dishes at the New York outpost, Villard is "a conspiracy on par with any
House of Cards subplot." OK, minus a point for the House of Cards reference, but hey, we'll take it.
