A vacant lot at 2909 17th St. NE in Brookland is becoming a four-story, six-unit condo building. The District issued the permit last week.
"For the last three, four years, there's been a lot of activity in Brookland," developer Faraz Khan told Elevation DC in March. "I think it's the most up-and-coming area in Washington, D.C."
Khan says the 10,000-square-foot building will be made up of four duplexes and two flats. Despite its location "not [in] the heart of Brookland," he believes that the project will be successful. "I've seen houses on Monroe [Street], on Jackson... in Brookland, listed for a million dollars. It's crazy."
Khan is also developing a project at 3733 12th St NE, also in Brookland: four two-bedroom condos atop what may, he says, become a kebab shop.

Due to an editing error, this article originally misstated the address of the Brookland condo building as 2909 17th St NW, which, of course, is nowhere near Brookland. Elevation DC regrets the error.
