The district’s Historic Preservation Review Board at its July 23 meeting supported with conditions the construction of a residential project at 8th and T Street NW, in the U Street Historic District.
Non-profit developer Manna Inc. proposes to subdivide one lot into three at the corner of 8th and T Streets NW, and to construct two market-rate and four affordable flats in one building designed to look like individual rowhomes. Two larger units would front onto 8th and the smaller units onto T Street. HPRB requested clarification of building heights and design details on the brick facades.
The project dates to 2013 when the District requested proposals for the city-owned vacant lot, then valued at approximately $930,000.
