Construction of the luxury four-unit townhomes at 939-941 M St NW is proceeding apace, according to developer Duane Young of Redwood Ventures.
These townhomes, built as two four-story rowhouses each with two 2,300-square-foot, four-bedroom townhomes, were built atop a formerly vacant lot used as a parking lot.
Since the groundbreaking in January, Redwood Ventures has completed the building's structure. "We're closing it up, we've got a roof on, and we're starting on the inside." Workers are also busy applying the brick facade.
The townhomes are being designed to be "unique, very large and very nice," Young says. The fact that the units are each 2,300 square feet when most new construction downtown has trended toward studio and one-bedroom apartments or condos.
That was partially a decision made for Redwood by the zoning requirements of the parcel, which wouldn't permit more units in the space. But, Young says, even without the requirements, his company probably would have leaned toward larger units anyway. "For that area, I think it works very well," he says.
Delivery is still scheduled for August 2013.
