More affordable housing is in the works with the groundbreaking of Brightwood Portfolio, Commercial Property Executive
reported May 8. Co-developers The Hampstead Companies and NixDev Company LLC, are preserving three historic and affordable apartment buildings – the Concord, Valencia and Vizcaya – into 140 units, 126 of which will serve families at or below 60% AMI. The remaining 14 will be market rate.
The project, at 5807 to 5825 14th Street NW in Brightwood, will also get new amenities like community and exercise rooms. The $32 million project is financed with help of the District agencies. The Brightwood Tenants Association was active in the project, which is expected to be done by March 2016.
