Good news for
Kennedy Street NW boosters: D.C. issued last week a building permit to convert an existing building at 5420 Third Street NW into a mixed-use building with ground-floor restaurant.
The existing building is two stories with basement, residential atop a ground-floor shop.
Two new stories will be built on top and an addition at the rear. Plans call for a restaurant on the first floor and apartments on the second through fourth floors. There will be six apartments total, two on each level.
The building, originally built in 1937, sold to the current owner in 2014 for $637,000.
Update: City records list the owner as Siyamak Sadeghi, owner of Dunya in Shaw.
