Donatelli Development recently presented its updated plan for a two-acre part of Reservation 13 at ANC 6B’s Hill East Task Force, Hill Now
reports. The mixed-use project is located east of 19th Street SE between extensions of Burke Street SE and Massachusetts Avenue SE near the Stadium-Armory Metro Station in Capitol Hill.
Donatelli's project consists of two four-story buildings with a total of 354 residential units, of which 30 percent will be affordable; two ground-floor retail spaces of about 40,000 square feet total; and 225 parking spaces. Possible tenants are a sit-down restaurant, a gym and a “Dunkin’ Donuts”-type coffee shop. Talks with grocery store Harris Teeter were not successful. “I think they’re making a mistake,” a Donatelli rep said. “But they could be back.”
D.C. is planning to eventually redevelop 50 of the 67 acres of the property known as Reservation 13, but doing so would first require closing the homeless shelter at D.C. General.
Donatelli Development and Blue Skye Development are co-developers. Construction will begin next year and wrap up in 2018.
