The Maryland, an upscale condominium along the H Street corridor, is opening a storefront sales center on H Street NE in May. Located at 1350 Maryland Avenue NE, The Maryland will offer 84 one- and two-bedroom units, priced from the low $300,000s to the upper $600,000s, according to Matt Dewey, director of sales for Urban Pace, the sales and marketing firm for the project.
Work on the project began in 2013. Condos will be ready for delivery in February of 2015. The five-story Maryland occupies the site of a vacant church, Faith Bible Church, and a car repair shop on the adjacent lot. Both were demolished for the project.
The project, for a time known as The Maia, is a joint venture of Valor Development and DBT Development Group. PGN Architects is the project’s architect.
Dewey says that Urban Pace has been collecting names of people who are interested in seeing the units or signing a contract. He says he has a list of 250 interested people, even before the sales office opens.
Dewey says The Maryland is the second largest new condominium development, after City Center, to open in the District of Columbia since the economic downturn in 2008. “It was difficult for developers to get financing,” he says of that period. “So The Maryland’s opening is very encouraging for the housing market.”
