Kids' STEM center opens permanent location in Fairfax

The Herndon, Va. based Children’s Science Center that once only offered STEM activities at schools and festivals now has a permanent location at Fair Oaks Mall, reports DC Inno.

“After many years of being a museum without walls, we are thrilled to make such experiences possible every day,” Children’s Science Center Executive Director Nene Spivy said in a press release.

Geared toward preschool and elementary aged children, the center’s main attractions include an experiment bar, inspiration hub, tinker shop and discovery zone.

Though the center is dedicated to filling the gap in STEM education for Northern Virginians, D.C. residents should also take advantage of the space that’s less than 30 miles outside the city--especially considering the closure of the National Children's Museum in Oxon Hill, Md. in January followed by the closure of the Playseum on Barracks Row in May.
