Zoomph, the tech start-up that provides a host of services including visualization, analytics, and now, predictive analysis, is a finalist for two
CODiE Awards: both for best service using aggregated content, and best testing, monitoring and analytics platform. The CODiEs are sponsored by the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA) and winners will be announced at SIIA’s annual conference in New York on January 31.
Earning a spot as a finalist means that the Zoomph team, headed by CEO Ali Manouchehri, will have the opportunity to showcase their product at the conference.
"We are totally blown away," reports Amir Zonozi, community manager for Zoomph. "We are thrilled to be finalists."
Zoomph officially launched in July 2012 at Wikimania, a conference for users of Wikipedia, but its first project was creating a customized, moderated Twitter display for a presidential engagement at the University of Indonesia. “We were approached byTech@State," the U.S. Department of State's technology and diplomacy initiative, Zonozi says. "And we had 72 hours to come up with something."
Success with Tech@State led to contracts with others, and Zoomph became the official social media partner of TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco in September. As the business has grown, its focus has shifted slightly as well. “We started off heavily into visualization," Zonozi explains. "But now we’re moving into analytics and predictive analysis."
Meaning? Zoomph mines their social sources — currently Twitter, Instagram and Facebook (Zonozi says they are adding platforms this year but will not name names) — and can use thousands of Tweets, photos and Facebook posts to figure out who will be nominated for Secretary of Defense, or who will win
The Voice, based on what users are posting.
Zonozi stresses that the company’s services are for everyone, not just big companies who have cash to burn. "We start at $9.95 per month out of the box," he says. "It’s not enough that people are talking about you, it’s more important what they are saying about you." With that price point, Zonozi believes even the average blogger can listen in on the conversations.
Zoomph is incubated at MetroStar Systems in Reston.
