The Food Truck Association of Metropolitan Washington opposes the
proposed regulations that would limit where trucks can vend. (The proposed regs also replace the "
ice-cream truck" loophole with dedicated food-truck-vending zones.)
Their battle has been
written up in Associations Now, focusing on how the association is taking to Twitter and Facebook to mobilize its 100,000 followers to also protest the regs.
Under the proposed regulations, specific zones would be designated throughout the city; food truck owners would have to pay $25 to enter a monthly lottery for a spot in one of those coveted zones. Without a spot, trucks would have to park at least 500 feet away from a zone in a metered parking space.
