Forbes has named Washington, D.C., and the surrounding area the number-one tech hot spot in America.
That's thanks to a more than 21 percent growth in STEM employment over the past decade.
Notably absent from the list, Forbes points out, are the country's largest cities: Chicago, New York and Los Angeles all lost tech jobs over the past 11 years. Say nothing about San Jose: Silicon Valley actually has 12 percent
fewer tech jobs today than in 2001.
