The Academy of Motion Picture Arts is drumming up interest in this year's Oscars by sending an Oscar statuette on a three-week road trip.
Could it be because in recent years the Oscars have come under fire for being too long and too self-indulgent? Doesn't matter the reason, the upshot is that Oscar hits D.C. this Thursday, Feb. 7.
The site says:
Oscar Road Trip is a three-week adventure that will feature an Oscar statue traveling the country and popping up in all kinds of places where fans will have the chance to get their photo taken with it, win some cool prizes (including some REALLY COOL prizes), and much more.
Here's the important part....Oscar needs a nickname. He can't just be Oscar the Oscar.
If you have suggestions for a nickname (or just want to tell the Oscars crew to visit you), tweet them at
@OscarRoadTrip.
