The redeveloped Giant grocery store that is part of the 'City Market at O' development in Shaw has won an award for Best Overall Store Design (New Construction, 50,000-plus square feet) from the magazine
Progressive Grocer, which is a thing, apparently.
"The store combines the charm of a 19th-century marketplace with 21st-century efficiency and innovation," the magazine wrote. "The roof of the historic market recalls the original structure and provides a sweeping vista down the store that imparts an open, airy environment."
The store was desigend by architecture firm Shalom Baranes and built by Roadside Development as part of the larger City Market at O development.
If you haven't been down to the new Giant, it is certainly worth a visit, even if you don't recall what the old Giant that was there was like.
