NoMA dwellers will soon have another option to choose from with Camden NoMa, a 321-unit apartment building currently under construction, scheduled to be finished in June.
The building did "open" in November 2013 despite construction still continuing. Twenty-six units have been leased and 20 are occupied, says Kim Callahan, SVP, investor relations, for Camden.
Camden NoMa will ultimately be two buildings, though "we are currently evaluating options for Phase 2," Callahan says. The second phase was originally proposed as a 406-unit building of 375,000 square feet but those details could, of course, change. In early January Camden was granted a permit for foundation work for the second building, but that's "just a formality," Callahan says.
According to WDG Architecture, which designed both phases of the project, the goals for Phase 1 were "creating an architectural response to the all-glass office building constructed to the east (Tishman Speyer’s building), maximizing views within the south-facing units, and maximizing the overall density of the Camden NoMa building."
The 321 units in Camden NoMa Phase 2 are split between studios, one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms. Studios start at $1621.
The site is two blocks from the NoMa Metro station, four blocks from Union Station and nine blocks from the Capitol.
