Dance Place opens up Arts Park for proposals

Dance Place is planning to install an Arts Park between its building and the Brookland Artspace Lofts, East City Arts reports, and is now inviting artists to submit proposals for five projects.

These will be only semi-permanent installations; the art works will be installed only for a period of two to five years. Because the arts park space is also a WMATA emergency right-of-way, it can’t be filled in or have anything permanent installed in the middle, but Dance Place is making the best of it.

Artists can submit their proposals for bike racks, bicycle repair station, seating, whirly gig (defined as “interactive, playable public sculpture with moveable parts”), and a sprinkler.

Proposals are due July 27, and the park is scheduled to open in September 2016.
