Lost & Found, new Shaw pub, applies for liquor license

Lost and Found, a new bar coming to Shaw, has applied for a liquor license. The bar could open in May or June, co-owner Brian Leonard tells Elevation DC.

The bar is located at 1240 9th Street NW, near Blagden Alley.

Leonard, who is partnering with restaurant vet Geofrey Dawson, says the bar is intended to be a neighborhood gathering place. There will be a full bar, and wine and craft beer will be featured. There will also be snacks, sandwiches and light fare.

Leonard and Dawson are making some minor renovations to the 2,200-square foot space, which city records show dates from 1900. Lost and Found is on the ground level of a building between the Long View Gallery and The Colonel, a new apartment building.

“The space was occupied before, but I’m not sure as what,” says Leonard of the bar’s site. “We’re the first bar to go into that space.”

The partners began planning Lost and Found in 2013. For the last six years, Leonard was the general manager of Nanny O’Brien’s, an Irish pub in Cleveland Park. Dawson has extensive management experience in local bars and restaurants.
