The construction of a 41-unit condo building at 1500 Pennsylvania Avenue SE, in Hill East, will begin in April. The four-story residential building with parking garage will be finished by the end of 2015.
However, because of the popularity of the neighborhood, “we are already getting a signficant number of calls,” says Eric May, partner with developer The Goldstar Group, who will open a sales office in late spring. Bonstra Haresign is the architect.
May said excavation of the one-story parking garage is done and concrete work on it began last week. The all-residential building will have 41 units of studios, one- and two-bedrooms, though most will be one-bedroom. There will be 21 parking spaces in the garage.
May said there will be a common roof deck with green features. The parking garage roof will also have green plantings.
ANC 6B supported the project.
“We’re a big believer in the location," May says. "It’s an affordable alternative to Capitol Hill proper, which is six blocks to the west.” He added that “a lot of exciting things are happening in the neighborhood” and that the building will be located a block from a Harris Teeter grocery store.
