What's happening in DC: DC Crowdfunding, DC TechDay, DC Startup Weekend and more

Networking/Demo Opps
National Crowdfunding Services (NCS) has created something called the DC Crowdfunding Challenge. It's a hybrid shark tank/happy hour/networking event. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., FISH in NW. Free. RSVP and full details here.

The next D.C. Tech Meetup is coming.These meetups tend to be well attended (think 600+ of your closest D.C. tech community friends) and feature short pitches from roughly 10 startups in the scene with a little time for Q&A. Thursday, Sept. 18 , 7 to 9 p.m., MLK library. The inaugural DC Tech Day , called a "science fair for startups," is modeled after similar TechDays in NYC and has space for at least 150 startups. Lots of familiar faces have already registered to exhibit at the event. Thursday, Oct. 2, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., National Building Museum. Free. RSVP and full details here.

D.C.'s Startup Weekend Women's Edition is almost here. Some amazing D.C. startups have come out of previous Startup Weekends; if you're not a developer, designer or entrepreneur but you just want to be at the "finish line" to see the final results of 54 hours of creative blood, sweat and tears, registration is open for Demo Day, the Sunday afternoon-only event. Sunday, Oct. 5, 4 p.m., 1776. $25. RSVP and full details here.  

Education
TandemNSI is holding a panel discussion, preceded by demos, about the robotics revolution. Representatives from DARPA, Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab and TechShop will discuss emerging opportunities created by advances in robotics, interface between man and machine, and federally funded research and development. Plus, you get to play with prototypes. Thursday, Sept. 25, 6 to 9 p.m., Artisphere in Arlington, Va. Free. RSVP and full details here.
