Theatre in D.C. is far different from how it was 20 years ago.
Though two decades ago, it was hard to find theatre in places like Logan Circle, Columbia Heights and H Street--let alone the downtown core--now theater is thriving all over the city.
According to one actress quoted in
The Atlantic Cities, "I work more here than I did in L.A...And I didn't always get paid in L.A."
D.C. is now one of the best towns for stage actors; the city now stages more theatre annually than anywhere in the U.S. besides New York, selling more than two million tickets a year.
