Green Buzz Agency (GBA), a D.C.-based video production company, will host
What's Next D.C., a marketing and strategy conference for public relations, advertising, marketing and communications professionals in the region and across the country May 6 and 7.
GBA was founded in 2009 by Tod Plotkin, a former video producer for the Washington Wizards. "I was getting a ton of requests to help organizations, like Blackboard, tell their stories through video," Plotkin explains. "I had enough work coming…that I decided to leave my full-time job [with] the Wizards."
Plotkin, Sara Evans and Kevin Bradley, who form the core of GBA, all bring experience working on large-budget studio films to the corporate video field. "[Working on studio films is] visual storytelling…at the highest level," Plotkin says. "We take the strategy and experience from there and apply it to clients here in D.C."
The strategy is working. A project for Hilton Worldwide's first Global Week of Service recently garnered GBA five industry awards.
This is the third year for What's Next D.C.; last year's conference drew more than 500 people. This year's conference will feature an array of speakers including Blackboard's Michael Chasen, Subway's Tony Pace, Pandora's Heidi Browning, and an unnamed special guest from the White House.
So, what's next for GBA? Plotkin is already looking ahead to What's Next D.C. 2014. "I'll try my best to continue to bring great speakers from around the country here to share insight into communication strategy that works," he says.
