Peter Corbett, founder and CEO of iStrategyLabs (iSL), a digital marketing agency in Dupont, recently announced that the company is expanding to New York. The announcement comes on the heels of a statement that iSL is moving to the
Wonder Bread Factory in Shaw, a move that will give the company space as it continues to grow. According to DJ Saul, current chief marketing officer for iSL, the expansion to NYC will allow the company to better serve two of its clients as well as drum up business with a few more.
"G.E. and Nickelodeon are both [in NYC]," Saul explains. "An expansion to New York has always been the next logical step for us. Our peers are there; a lot of brands are there." Once the office is set up, "we'll try to woo everybody."
According to Saul, within the next week, he and Corbett will lock down a live/work space in New York. The pair will split time between the cities, with Corbett directing operations in NYC and Saul assuming a new title, lead of the D.C. office. "In the short term, we're looking at [using] a coworking space," Saul says. "In 2015, we'll look for a larger office space to house a growing team."
Staff for that growing team, the hiring of which Saul anticipates will take place during Q1 of 2015, could potentially come from D.C. and NYC, although "immediately, we'll look at NYC proper [for candidates]," he says.
In other news, iSL recently added Midwest grocery chain Kroger to its client roster. The company also has contracts with Facebook and Instagram to create multiple "connected devices." Saul can't spill the details yet on most of those devices but says that one is an Instagram mirror, similar to the
G.E. S.E.L.F.I.E. mirror created for
E3.
iSL's headquarters will remain in the District. Saul says that opening a European outpost has also been in discussion for a long time and remains an option for the future.
